Today I'm sharing with you a rich gourmet food of South Indian cuisine. Its one of the popular Non-vegetarian delicacies due to its delicious taste and nourishment. Its prepared from attukal ie. goat leg or lamb's feet. This spicy curry can be prepared very easily in pressure cooker. In this recipe the legs of lamb is cooked along with flavorful spices into thick soup. Try this authentic dish at your home with this simple video recipe.

Ingredients

Attukal / Mutton leg pieces - 15 to 20

Onion - 3

Tomato - 3

Ginger garlic paste - 2 tbsp

Oil - 2 tbsp

Turmeric pwd - 1/2 tsp

Red chilly pwd - 3 tsp

Coriander pwd - 2 tsp

Bay leaf - 2

Cumin - 1 tsp

Saunf - 1/2 tsp

Peppercorns - 1/2 tsp

Thick coconut paste - 1 small cup

Salt to taste

Fresh coriander leaves

Instructions

1.

Clean & wash attukal (mutton leg pieces)

2.

Drain water completely and set aside.

3.

Heat oil in cooker.

4.

Add onions and toss till golden.

5.

Add ginger garlic paste and saute until raw smell disappears.

6.

Add sliced tomatoes and fry for 2 mins or until tomatoes turn soft and cooked.

7.

Add attukal (mutton leg pieces) and mix well.

8.

Add turmeric pwd, red chilly pwd and coriander pwd.

9.

Stir the masala well.

10.

Add enough water and combine.

11.

Close the cooker with lid and pressure cook.

12.

Let the flame be in high for 5 whistles and simmer the flame for 15 to 20 mins.

Once the pressure is gone, mix the contents well.

14.

Check if the mutton leg pieces are cooked and done.

Add salt and mix.

16.

Let the gravy along with mutton rest for overnight or minimum 4 hours.

17.

This enhances the flavor & taste of attukal curry / paya.

18.

Grate coconut to small pieces.

19.

Add it to blender.

20.

Add water and grind to thick smooth paste.

21.

Keep it aside.

22.

Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a frypan.

23.

Add bayleaf, cumin and saunf.

24.

Add curry leaves and wait to splutter.

25.

Turn off flame and add it to gravy.

26.

Add coconut paste and mix well.

27.

Allow the gravy to boil for few minutes and turn off flame.

28.

Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.

29.

Authentic delicious Attukal Paya / Mutton leg curry is ready.

30.

Makes a lipsmacking combo with idly, dosa, idiyappam, chapati, etc.
