Hy everyone, here is yet another simple yet healthy sundal recipe.  Green Peas Sundal is one of the sundals I like the most to prepare for Navrathri. 
This popular sundal recipe is very easy to prepare and tastes flavorful and yumm. 
In this recipe the dried green peas are soaked overnight and cooked with spices. In temples, they prepare this for prasadam during the festive days.

·       Dry green peas           - 1 cup
·       Oil                              -1 to 2 tsp
·       Mustard                      -1/4 tsp
·       Cumin                         - ½ tsp
·       Split urad dal              - 1 tsp
·       Hing                           - a pinch
·       Red chilly                   - 1
·       Curry leaves                - a few
·       Onion sliced               - ¼ cup
·       Red chilly flakes         - ½ tsp
·       Salt to taste
·       Fresh coriander leaves
1.   Wash and soak the peas in water for 5 to 6 hours.
2.   Pressure cook with enough water for 3 to 4 whistles.
3.   Take care the peas should be cooked soft, but not mushy.
4.   Heat oil in a pan.
5.   Add mustard, cumin seeds and wait to crackle.
6.   Add the other ingredients urad dal, hing, red chilly , curry leaves, onion and stir well.
7.   Now add the cooked peas.
8.   Combine well.
9.   Add salt, red chilly flakes and mix.
10. Sprinkle freshly grated coconut.
11. Turn off flame.
12. Top up with fresh coriander leaves.
13. Serve hot.
14. Yummiliciuos and flavorful green peas sundal is ready.
15. It makes an ideal neivedyam recipe for navratri.

16. Also it serves excellent as a evening tea time snack for both kids and adults.

In my previous post, I have updated Navratri special sundal recipes. Here comes another healthy sundal variety, Kollu Sundal ( Horse gram Sundal)  to offer as neivedyam for Navratri festival. It is also known by Hurule in Kannada, Kulthi in Hindi, Ulavalu in Telugu & Muthira in Malyalam. 
Kollu has so many health benefits like rich in proteins, fibre content, to reduce cholesterol & unwanted fats from body, regulates digestive system and helps a lot in weight management. 
It is very easy to prepare this healthy vegan snack. It also makes a filling snack when served with evening coffee.
Check out this easy recipe here...
·       Kollu / Horsegram     - 1 cup
·       Oil                            - 1 to 2 tsp
·       Mustard                    - ¼ tsp
·       Cumin                      - ½ tsp
·       Split urad dal            - 1tsp
·       Red chilly                 - 1 or 2
·       Hing / asafetida        - a generous pinch
·       Curry leaves             - a twig
·       Coconut grated         - 2 tbsp
·       Fresh coriander leaves
·       Salt to taste
1.   Wash and soak horsegram / kollu for overnight or for minimum 6 hours
2.   Pressure cook the kollu by adding salt and 2 cups of water for 5 to 6 whistles.
3.   Wait till the pressure goes off.
4.   Drain off the water.  ( this nutritious water can be used for cooking purpose)
5.   Heat oil in a kadai.
6.   Season with mustard, cumin, split urad dal, red chilly, hing and curry leaves.
7.   Add the cooked kollu and give a good stir.

8.   Add freshly grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves.
9.   Mix well.
10. Turn off flame.
11. Healthy and delicious Kollu Sundal is ready.

Oats Moongdal Tikki / Healthy Snack Recipes / Step by Step

Looking for a healthy and perfect tea time snack? Here comes the delicious combo of moong dal and oats with chatpata Indian spices. 
This Oats moongdal tikki is simple to prepare and uses shallow fry technique to get crispy outer and soft inside. It makes an excellent starter recipe and a perfect health treat for get-together parties.
Try this quick and yummy tikki recipe and kick start your evening with fun..!
·       Yellow moong dal     - 1 cup
·       Oats                         -  1 cup
·       Yoghurt                    - 2 to 3 tbsp
·       Sliced onions           - ½ cup
·       Green chilly              - 1
·       Chat masala pwd      - ½ tsp
·       Red chilly pwd          - ½ tsp
·       Garam masala pwd   - ½ tsp
·       Turmeric pwd            -a pinch
·       Ginger garlic paste    - 1 tsp
·       Fresh coriander leaves
·       Salt to taste
·       Oil to cook
1.   Clean and wash the moong dal.
2.   Take the( ready to cook ) oats in a cup.
3.   Pressure cook the moong dal in a cup of water.
4.   Allow to cool and coarsely mash the moong dal with a ladle.
5.   Transfer it to mixing bowl.
6.   Add the oats and combine.
7.   Add yoghurt, sliced onions, green chilly, chat masala pwd, red chilly pwd, garam masala pwd, turmeric pwd, ginger garlic paste, salt and freshly chopped coriander & mint leaves.

8.   Mix all the ingredients well.
9.   Make small balls out of it.
10. Pat it flat to tikki shape.

11. Heat a tawa and grease it with oil.
12. Place the tikkis gently on the hot tawa.
13. Drizzle oil to the sides and cook it on low medium flame.
14. Once it is evenly cooked on both sides and turns golden brown, remove from flame.
15. Serve hot with green chutney, tomato ketchup or with any dip of your choice.
Spiced Oats Moong dal Tikkis ready to enjoy..!
