Matar Paneer Masala / Paneer Peas Masala / Roti Side Dish Recipes

Mutter Paneer masala is a delicious North Indian curry. It is very popular and probably the most frequently ordered side dish in Indian restaurants. This dish is made of green peas and paneer, which are rich in protein, calcium, minerals and fibre.  The paneer cubes are stir fried in butter and soaked in a rich tomato based gravy, and it is a favorite for all those who love paneer.
It combines excellent with Chapatis, parathas, naan and jeera rice…!!!
Happy to share this all time favorite Mutter Paneer Masala recipe with you..:)
  • Paneer                          - 250 g
  • Green peas / mutter       - 1 cup
  • Tomato                         - 3
  • Onion                           - 2
  • Butter                           - 1 tbsp
  • Oil                                - 2 tbsp
  • Cumin                           - ½ tsp
  • Cloves                          - 3 to 4
  • Cardamom                    - 1
  • Cinnamon                     - 1
  • Ginger garlic paste        - 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric pwd                - ¼ tsp
  • Coriander pwd               - 1 tbsp
  • Red chilly pwd              - 2 tbsp
  • Curd / yoghurd              - ½  cup
  • Garam masala pwd        - ½ tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves
  1. Make a puree out of tomato in a blender.
  2. Grind onions to fine paste and keep aside.
  3. Heat a tbsp of butter in a frying pan.
  4. Gently stir fry the paneer cubes to golden.
  5. Remove and keep aside.
  6. Add 2 tbsp of oil in the same pan and heat
  7. Add cumin, cloves, cinnamon and cardamom.
  8. Allow to crackle.
  9. Now add onion paste and sauté well.
  10. Add ginger garlic paste and fry for another 2 mins.
  11. Add tomato puree and stir well in medium flame.
  12. Now add turmeric pwd, coriander pwd, salt and red chilly pwd.
  13. Allow to boil, by stirring continuously , till oil separates.
  14. Now add green peas and mix.
  15. Add little water and allow to cook covered.
  16. Beat the curd to smooth texture and add to masala.
  17. Combine well.
  18. Add garam masala pwd and fried paneer cubes.
  19. Reduce flame to simmer, and cook till the gravy thickens
  20. Remove from heat.
  1. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
  1. Serve hot with chapattis, parathas, naan and jeera rice.

 Apple juice is lovely and sweet on its own.  I tried this tasty and fresh apple juice today and am happy to share the recipe with you.
We all know the saying, “ An apple a day, keeps the doctor away “  absolutely true, due to its amazing cleansing and detoxifying properties. 
Apple juice improves the health of intestine and reduce high cholesterol.  Due to its high mineral content, apples are great for healthy skin, finger nails and hair.  It is a good source of Vit A, C, K & E.
Also, Apple skin contains anti cancer chemicals and beta carotene. 
Lets try this lovely fresh apple juice and enjoy…:)
Here is the healthy recipe ...!
  • Apple                           - 2
  • Honey                           - 2 tbsp
  • Sugar                           - 2 tbsp
  • Chilled water                 - 2 cup
  • Pepper pwd                  - ¼ tsp
  • Mint leaves to garnish
  1. Wash and chop apple to small pieces.
  2. Grind it to smooth paste by adding required chill water.
  3. Filter the contents and take aside the pulp.
  4. Add some more chilled water, honey, sugar and mix well.
  5. Sprinkle pepper pwd.
  6. Garnish with mint leaves

Makkan Peda is a delicious sweet dish from the South Indian Cuisine. Also, it is familiar by the name “ Arcot Sweet “,  as this sweet hails from  North Arcot district of Tamilnadu.  Makkan Peda tastes divine, and this sweet treat,  is a boon to all sweet lovers.
This recipe , I learnt from my neighbor, who is great chef in making sweets. I followed her instructions and it came out with excellent result with simple steps. Am happy to share this recipe with you all…!!!

  • Sugar                           - 2 cups
  • Sugarless khova            - 250 g
  • All purpose flour           - ½ cup
  • Yoghurd                       - ¾  cup
  • Baking soda pwd          - a pinch
  • Almond                         - 8
  • Cashew                        - 10
  • Pista                             - 5 to 7
  • Raisins                         - ¼ cup
  • Pumpkin seeds             - 1 tbsp
  • Saffron                         - few strands
  • Cardamom pwd             - ¼ tsp
  • Ghee to fry
Method :
To prepare Sugar syrup:
  1. Take sugar in a bowl.
  2. Add water till it immerse.
  3. Allow to boil in low flame with stirring.
  4. Once the sugar syrup turns oily consistency, turn off the flame.
  5. Add few saffron strands and cardamom pwd.
  6. Mix well.
To Prepare Pedas:
  1. Take sugarless khova, all purpose flour in a bowl and knead well.
  2. Add yoghurd, a pinch of baking soda pwd and knead to smooth soft dough.
  3. Cover and keep it aside for 1 hour.
  4. In the meantime, grate almond, cashew & pistachio to fine pieces.
  5. With this add raisins and pumpkin seeds, mix together.
  6. Keep ready this stuffing ingredients.
  7. Now, make small lemon sized balls out of the dough.
  8. Press it to cup shape and place a spoonful of stuffing inside.
  9. Close it carefully to round shape again.
  10. Gently flatten it and keep aside.
  11. Repeat the same with all the remaining dough and stuffing.
  12. Heat ghee in a frying pan.
  13. Deep fry in medium flame to golden brown color on both sides.
  14. Take it aside and immerse in warm sugar syrup.
  15. Allow to soak well for about 3 to 4 hrs till , the pedas absorb all the sugar syrup to it.
  16. Garnish with grated cashew, pista and almond nuts
  1. Delicious , mouth watery Makkan Peda is ready to enjoy…!!!

Brinji Rice Recipe / Lunch Box Recipes

Brinji Rice is a special variety rice dish that can be seen in all special occasions in India. The leaves of Bay tree are called  Brinji  in Tamil, ( Tejpatta in Hindi ) . As this rice dish, uses bay leaf as the main flavoring spice, it is popularly called Brinji Rice. This is very tasty flavorful rice, and serves as an excellent lunch box menu. It is prepared in a rice cooker with fried onions, brinji leaf, ginger garlic paste, mint leaves, coconut milk and ghee roasted basmati rice.

  • Basmati rice                  - 2 cups
  • Ghee                            - 2 tbsp
  • Oil                                - 2 tbsp
  • Onion                           - 3
  • Green chilly                   - 3 or 4
  • Ginger garlic paste        - 1 tbsp
  • Cinnamon                     - 2
  • Cloves                          - 3
  • Brinji leaf / bay / basil    - 2
  • Anise                            - 2 petal
  • Cardamom                    - 2
  • Fennel seeds                - ½ tsp
  • Mint leaves                   - handful
  • Thick coconut milk         - small cup
  • Cashew                         - 4 to 5
  • Fresh coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  1. Wash rice thoroughly and soak for 10 mins.
  2. Drain the water completely.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp of ghee in a frying pan.
  4. Fry cinnamon, cloves, brinji leaves, cardamom, anise and fennel seeds.
  5. Take them aside.
  6. Now, fry the rice in low heat and empty the contents into a pressure cooker.
  7. Add 2 tbsp of oil and heat it.
  8. Add chopped onion and fry to golden.
  9. Add  ginger garlic paste, slit green chillies, salt, mint leaves and sauté well.
  10. Once done, add thick coconut milk and combine.
  11. Taste and adjust salt and seasonings.
  12. Transfer the contents to pressure cooker.
  13. Add the  required quantity of water and cook the rice.
  14. Remove from heat and wait till pressure goes off.
  15. Fluff the rice gently.
  16. Garnish with ghee roasted golden cashews and freshly chopped coriander leaves.
  17. Serve with onion raita and pappad.
  1. Delicious and tasty brinji rice ready to give a taste…:)

Egg Curry Masala is an easy Indian recipe. This is an ideal dish, when you are bored or lazy to spend more time in kitchen. This can be prepared very quick and tastes awesome. This appetizing dish goes with almost anything from tiffin to lunch menus. In this recipe, Curry masala is well cooked and the boiled eggs are dropped and simmered.
Here is the recipe for Tangy and easy Egg Curry Masala…:)
  • Eggs                            - 3
  • Onion                           - 2
  • Tomato                         - 2
  • Ginger                          - a small piece
  • Garlic                            - 4 to 5 flakes
  • Green chilly                   - 1 or 2
  • Turmeric pwd                - ¼ tsp
  • Red chilly pwd              - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander pwd               - ½ tbsp
  • Cumin pwd                    - ½ tsp
  • Garam masala pwd        - ½ tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly chopped coriander  leaves
  1. Remove the shell of boiled eggs and keep aside.
  2. Make a paste of onion, ginger, garlic and green chillies in a blender.
  3. Heat oil in frying pan.
  4. Add the above prepared paste and fry till raw smell disappears.
  5. Add turmeric, red chilli pwd, coriander pwd, cumin pwd and salt.
  6. Fry all the spices in low flame, for 2 mins.
  7. Add tomato puree and fry till oil separates.
  8. Add a cup of water and allow to boil.
  9. Taste and adjust salt and seasonings.
  10. Now add garam masala pwd and boiled eggs.
  11. Reduce the flame and bring to boil.
  12. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  13. Once, the curry masala attains desired consistency, turn off the flame.
  14. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander  leaves
  1. Serve hot with paratha, roti or rice.

Spinach Paneer / Palak Paneer

Spinach Paneer is an authentic, simple recipe full of flavor and aroma.  This is one of the  North Indian delicacy. I made this recipe last night.  It was very tasty and much healthier than the restaurants version. It served marvellous with Naan and  chapattis.  In this recipe, fresh spinach is trimmed,  chopped to small pieces, cooked and simmered with Paneer and spices.   We know, Palak is a rich source of vitamins, fibre  and Paneer is loaded with protein and minerals.  So, this dish is very healthy and always a crowd pleaser...!!!

Here is the easy to follow Palak Paneer recipe…:)


·         Fresh Spinach               - 1 bowl
·         Paneer                          - 100 g
·         Onion                           - 1
·         Tomato                         - 1
·         Ginger garlic paste        - ½ tbsp
·         Green chilly                   - 1 or 2
·         Butter                           - 1 tbsp
·         Bay leaf                        - 1
·         Cumin seeds                 - ½ tsp
·         Garam masala pwd        - ½ tsp
·         Pepper pwd                  - 1 tsp
·         Salt to taste


  1. Wash and chop spinach to fine pieces.
  2. Cook spinach with ginger garlic paste, salt and green chilly and smash it.
  3. Cut paneer to small cubes.
  4. Heat a tbsp of butter in a  pan.
  5. Fry the paneer cubes in medium flame.
  6. Keep it aside.
  7. In the same pan, add bay leaves, cumin seeds and sauté them.
  8. Add chopped  onion, tomato and sauté for 3 to 4 mins.
  9. Add garam masala pwd, pepper pwd and mix well.
  10. Now add fried paneer pieces and cooked spinach.
  11. Stir well .
  12. Taste and adjust salt and seasonings.

  1. Palak Paneer is ready to serve.
