Dal Paratha is a very delicious, healthy breakfast /dinner recipe in which spicy dal is stuffed in paratha and served along with raitha and pickle. Its one of the very popular paratha recipe of Indian cuisine. This healthy and tasty protein rich paratha serves as an excellent breakfast food to start the day. Also it makes a wholesome lunch box recipe or dinner recipe. In this recipe, the cooked chana or moong dal is combined along with aromatic spices and stuffed in paratha and cooked. Ingredients

To Prepare Stuffing

kadalai paruppu / gram dal / chana dal - 2 cups

Turmeric pwd - 1/4 tsp

Red chilli pwd - 1/2 tsp

Coriander pwd - 1/2 tsp

Cumin pwd - 1/2 tsp

Chat masala pwd - 1/2 tsp

Garam masala pwd - 1/2 tsp

Coriander leaves

Salt to taste

To Prepare Dough

Wheat flour - 2 to 3 cups

Oil - 2 tbsp

Salt to taste

To Prepare Paratha

Butter / oil - 2 tbsp

Instructions

To Prepare Dal Stuffing:

Wash and soak chana dal / gram dal or kadalai paruppu in water for 10 mins.

Drain water and add to pan.

Add 2 cups of water and cook until soft.

5.

Drain water completely.

6.

Add cooked dal to blender.

7.

Grind coarsely.

Transfer to a bowl.

Add salt, turmeric pwd, red chilli pwd, coriander pwd, cumin pwd, chat masala pwd, garam masala pwd and coriander leaves.

Mix well.

Dal stuffing is ready.

To Prepare Dough:

Take 1 cup of warm water in mixing bowl.

Add 1/2 tsp of salt.

Add Wheat flour little by little and knead to smooth dough.

Add 2 tbsp of oil and knead to soft dough.

Cover with damp cloth and set the dough aside for 5 mins.

To Make Paratha:

Divide dough into equal sized balls.

Dust with flour.

Roll it to thick disc as shown in video.

Stuff 2 to 3 tbsp of dal mixture.

Close the paratha and seal the edges.

Roll it to smooth ball and dust with flour.

25.

Roll it to thick paratha.

26.

Heat butter or oil in frypan.

27.

Place the paratha.

Cook on both sides by drizzling oil.

Once the paratha is cooked golden and done, remove from heat.

Divine tasting, flavorful dal paratha is ready.
