Today I am here with one of the quickest & easiest recipe to make mawa or khoya at home. The traditional recipe to prepare khoya is time consuming & tedious process. But this instant homemade mawa recipe can be made within 5 mins. Most of our Indian sweets calls for mawa and its not easily available at stores. Don't panic! Ingredients

  • Milk powder - 1 cup
  • Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Ghee - 3 tbsp

Method

  1. Add milk to pan and boil.
  2. Add milk pwd and stir.
  3. Keep stirring in low flame until it forms a thick smooth paste texture as shown in video.
  4. Add ghee and give a quick stir.
  5. Once it forms thick mass, turn off flame.
  6. Allow to cool.
  7. Transfer it into a bowl.
  8. Homemade instant mawa is ready.
  9. Enjoy preparing any sweets or desserts with this flavorful homemade mawa recipe.
  10. Its optional to add sugar to make it sweetened khoya recipe.

Chettinad Mutton Curry Recipe | Spicy Mutton Fry - Easy Video Recipe

This mutton curry recipe is very very tasty and the best part is preparation is amazingly simple. This thick mutton curry requires very few ingredients to prepare. Ingredients

  • Mutton - 1/2 kg
  • Turmeric pwd - 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilli pwd - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste

To prepare masala

  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Cumin - 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper - 3/4 tsp
  • Red chilli - 5 to 6
  • Coriander seeds - 2 tsp
  • Cinnamon - 2
  • Cloves - 4
  • Cardamom - 2
  • Star anise - 1
  • Curry leaves

To make mutton curry

  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Onion - 2
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • Tomato - 2
  • Saunf pwd - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry & coriander leaves

Method

  1. Wash and chop mutton to bite sized pieces
  2. Add mutton to mixing bowl, add turmeric pwd, red chilli pwd and salt.
  3. Combine well and allow to marinate for minimum 20 mins.
  4. Add marinated mutton to cooker and add 1/2 cup of water.
  5. Combine and pressure cook for 5 whistles or until tender.
  6. Set it aside.

To prepare masala

  1. Heat 1 tsp of oil.
  2. Add pepper, cumin, coriander, curry leaves, cinnamon, cloves, star anise, cardamom and red chilli.
  3. Saute for few minutes.
  4. Turn off flame.
  5. Add to blender.
  6. Add 1/4 cup of water and grind to smooth paste.
  7. Set it aside.

To make mutton curry

  1. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in frypan.
  2. Add cumin seeds and wait to splutter.
  3. Add sliced onions and saute until light brown.
  4. Add ginger garlic paste and toss.
  5. Add sliced tomato and cook until soft.
  6. Add masala paste and combine.
  7. Cover and cook for few minutes.
  8. Add the water (that is along with cooked mutton) and cook.
  9. Cook in high flame until masala thickens.
  10. Add cooked mutton and cook for few more mins.
  11. Add saunf pwd and taste & adjust salt and seasonings.
  12. Turn off flame.
  13. Sprinkle freshly chopped curry & coriander leaves.
  14. Lipsmacking flavorful delicious mutton curry is ready.
  15. It pairs up excellent with roti, chapathi, puri & rice dishes.

Ingredients

  • Gram flour (kadalai maavu) - 200 g
  • Rice flour - 75 g
  • Butter - 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli pwd - 3/4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Hing or asafoetida pwd - a generous pinch
  • Garlic - 1
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to deep fry

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, add besan flour, rice flour, salt, hing, red chilli pwd, cumin seeds, crushed garlic and mix well.
  2. Add water little by little and knead.
  3. Add butter and knead to smooth soft dough.
  4. Let the dough sit for 5 mins.
  5. Grease the karasev mould with oil.
  6. Take one small portion of the dough and stuff into the mould as shown in above video.
  7. Heat oil in frypan.
  8. Squeeze the dough directly in hot oil.
  9. Deep fry until the sizzling stops and kara sev is golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  10. Drain from oil.
  11. Repeat the same for the rest of the dough.
  12. Crispy, spicy delicious masala karasev is ready.
  13. Store it in air tight container for long shelf life.
  14. It makes a yummy treat to munch along with evening coffee/tea.
