Dahi Aloo - Dahi Aloo Recipe / Potatoes in Creamy Yoghurt Sauce / Step by step Recipe

Today’s delicious recipe is Dahi Aloo. Dahi wale aloo is a yoghurt based gravy prepared with a combo of potato and flavorful spices. This gravy is very easy to prepare and tastes...
rich and spicy. It goes excellent with pulaos, parathas, chapattis, puris or rotis. 
Try this popular North Indian curry and enjoy the irresistible taste..
Ingredients
·         Aloo / potatoes cubed          - 2 cups
·         Yoghurt                                - 1 cup
·         Oil or ghee                           -  2 tsp
·         Cumin seeds                        - ½ tsp
·         Curry leaves                         - 7 to 8
·         Turmeric pwd                        - ¼ tsp
·         Red chilly pwd                      - 1 tsp
·         Coriander pwd                      -1 tsp
·         Garam masala pwd               - ½ tsp
·         Cumin pwd                           - ½ tsp
·         Fresh coriander leaves
·         Salt to taste
Method:
1.     Wash and pressure cook potatoes.
2.     Peel off the skin and slice them to fine cubes.
3.     Heat oil or ghee in the pan.
4.     Once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds, curry leaves and wait to splutter.
5.     Add turmeric pwd, red chilly pwd, salt and coriander pwd.

6.     Mix well.
7.     Add the cubed potatoes and combine gently.
8.     Simmer the flame for 4 to 5 mins.
9.     Stir once in a while, so that the potatoes are coated completely with the spice masala.
10.  Now add the thick yoghurt and mix well.

11.  Reduce heat and allow to boil. (if needed add 1/2 cup of warm water and adjust the consistency of the gravy)
12.  Sprinkle garam masala pwd and cumin pwd.
13.  Turn off flame and transfer to serving bowl.
14.  Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
15.  Serve hot with parathas, roti or chapatti.
16.  Make delicious Dahi Aloo Curry at home n enjoy..!!!

Kadala Curry / Kerala Kadala Curry Recipe / Puttu Kadala Curry / Easy Stepwise Recipe

Here is the absolutely delicious recipe of Kadala Curry, straight from God’s own country. It is a very popular breakfast dish in Kerala. It combines excellent with appam, puttu, Idiappam (stringhoppers) and even with dosa.
In this recipe, the main ingredient is brown chickpeas which is cooked along with ground roasted coconut paste and other flavorful spices. This is a very healthy & filling recipe as the chick peas are a rich source of folate, zinc and protein.

Ingredients:
To pressure cook:
·         Brown Chick peas                 - 1 cup
·         Sliced onion                         - 1 cup
·         Sliced tomato                       - ½ cup
·         Turmeric pwd                        - ¼ tsp
·         Red chilly pwd                      - 1 ½ tsp
·         Garam masala pwd               - 1 tsp
·         Saunf pwd                            - ½ tsp
·         Cumin pwd                           - ½ tsp
·         Ginger garlic paste                - 1 tsp
·         Salt to taste
For Grinding:
·       Oil                                        -2  to 3 tsp
·       Grated coconut                     - ½ cup
·       Sliced onion                         - ½ cup
·       Coriander pwd                      - 2 tsp
For tempering:
·       Oil                            - 2 tsp
·       Mustard                    - ¼ tsp
·       Cumin                      - ½ tsp
·       Urad dal                   - ½ tsp
·       Hing                         - ¼ tsp
·       Red chilly                 - 2
·       Coconut pieces        - 1 to 2 tbsp
·       Curry leaves             - 1 sprig
·       Shallots diced          - 4 to 5
Method:
1.   Wash and soak chick peas / brown channa in water overnight or minimum 8 hours.
2.   In a pressure cooker, add soaked chickpeas, sliced onions, tomatoes, turmeric pwd, red chilly pwd, garam masala pwd, ginger garlic paste, cumin pwd, saunf pwd, salt, 1 cup water and pressure cook until it is done.
3.   Once the pressure goes off, combine the masala well.

4.   In a pan, heat 2 tsp of oil.
5.   Add grated coconut and roast it over medium low flame.
6.   Add onion slices and saute for few more minutes.
7.   Once it turns brown, add coriander pwd and mix well.
8.   Turn off flame.
9.   Allow to cool.
10. Add it to blender and grind it to smooth paste.
11. Add this coconut paste to the cooked chickpeas masala.
12. Add ½ cup of hot water and allow to boil, until the masala reaches desired consistency.
 Taste and adjust salt and seasonings.
13. For tempering, heat oil in a pan.
14. Add mustard seeds, cumin, urad dal, red chillies, curry leaves, hing, shallots and coconut pieces.
15. Saute until it turns golden brown.
16. Pour this over the kadala curry.
17. Mix well.
18. Mouth watering Kerala Kadala Curry is ready in no time.
19. Serve hot with Appam, idiappam or puttu.

Clean India  - A service to Nation:
Last week, I received a mail from Indian Top Blogs, saying to make a blog post regarding “Clean India” Campaign. It’s a small contribution to “Clean India Campaign” , which is been initiated by India’s PM, Narendra Modi.
Here Am glad to share my views and pledge towards this grand initiative and linking this post to IndianTopBlogs.

I request all my near n dear ones, friends, bloggers & all Indians to join the “Clean India” Campaign and lets keep our surrounding clean & green.

This vision is possible only with the following three missions:
1. Government should give priority to the well-being and welfare of the people.
2. Citizens should come together to work hand-in-hand with the government.
3. Citizens should feel and practice civic obedience and patriotism.
Governments Role:
o   Government should ensure and commit in inculcating self-sustainability, self-responsibility, civic obedience and sense of pride in each citizen. This is possible only through proper education and corruption free ruling.
o   Government should ensure and encourage the media in promoting and propagating only in the right direction.
o   Government should give priority to health, safety, environmental schemes. Wrong doing in implementation and corruptions should be handled with iron hand without red tape attitude and favoritism. Waste management and water management should be revamped.
o   Encroachments, irrespective of small or big, should be handled with stringent punishments; judiciary should be given real autonomous to ensure the same.
o   Proper and friendly education towards cleanliness, safety, public responsibility, friendliness, fraternity and use of public facilities can be undertaken by all the Government departments with the help of all the media. Major Corporates and celebrities can be used, because most of them want to do service to the nation, where from they got the fame and wealth.
Public Role:
·       Each citizen should feel and use public properties as our own; it should be in blood, which is only really called as “Patriotism”.
·       Before cleaning the existing litters, let us stop littering, spitting and making the public places unclean, shabby and unhealthy.
·       We should reduce wastages (let it be solid wastes and liquid wastes). Judicious usage of water will solve 25% of uncleanliness.
·       Each family, I feel, can join in this campaign of “Clean India”, by cleaning and keeping the surrounding of their houses that is more than enough.
My Pledge:
• I will clean and keep the surrounding of my house clean.
• I will reduce leaving the solid wastes in dust bins.
• I will use the water judiciously.
• I will inculcate cleanliness and civic sense in my kids.
• I will use public properties with the sense of responsibility.
• I will observe and obey all the civic rules including road safety rules.
