Sweet Murukku:

Happy Mother's Day ..!

Mother’s Day is a precious day for us to show our appreciation towards our loving Mom.  It’s almost always that Mom has the strongest and quietest influence on us. She balances so many roles and she does it all with a smile.

Today, we have this special day , to honor all the Mothers..

Happy Mother’s Day   to all the Mom’s in the world,

especially mine... Love You Mom…! You re my best friend and confident..!

I love to dedicate this poem to my Mom..

Mother  is  just  a  simple  word
yet  it's  especially  dear...
And  it  seems  to  mean  much
more  with  each  passing  year...
Each  word  of  Love  and  Affection
describes  you  mother...
It's  a  word  that's  filled  with  love,
a  word  that  reflects  everything  that's
wonderful  -  Wonderful  just  like   YOU

I am sharing today, a simple sweet recipe from South Indian Delicacies...!

This is the first time I prepared this sweet murukku and it came perfect and tasty ! It has two steps like making plain murukku in first step and then mixing with sugar syrup.

Here is the recipe for this sweet and tasty snack..!

Ingredients:
·         Maida flour ( all purpose flour )                 - 4 cups
·         Urad dal pwd                                         - ½ cup
·         Bengal gram pwd                                   - ½ cup
·         Cumin seeds                                         - 1 tsp
·         Butter                                                   - 1 tbsp
·         Sugar                                                    - 1 ½ cups
·         Salt to taste
·         Oil to fry

Method:

1.     Take maida flour in a wide bowl, and steam in pressure cooker for 2 whistles.
2.     Mix maida flour, urad dal pwd  ( roasted without oil and powdered ) , Bengal gram pwd well.
3.     Add cumin seeds, salt and butter.
4.     Sprinkle little water and knead to soft dough.
5.     Keep the dough covered  for 5 minutes.
6.     Fill the dough in the murukku press.
7.     Heat oil in a fry pan .
8.     When the oil is hot, press the murukku into the oil.
9.     Keep the heat in medium and  fry till golden brown.
10.  Remove and drain excess oil.
11.  Make sugar syrup in 2 string consistency with sugar and water.
12.  Drop little by little the muruku pieces and remove immediately.
13.  Place it in a dry plate and allow to cool.

14.  Lipsmacking sweet murukku ready to enjoy…!

Happy Mother’s Day to the Lovely Moms reading,
                     Jay
